Robotics engineer — Edinburgh · Paris · Lyon

Antoine
Esman

I build robots that see, plan and move.

MSc Robotics student at Heriot-Watt. I'm a ROS 2 software lead on an open-source humanoid, develop active SLAM for underwater inspection, and train imitation-learning policies on a desktop arm.

/aboutField notes

I grew up in a small village in the French Alps, and got into robots through software. I started with low-level C and assembly at Epitech, then worked my way through every layer above it. I'm currently finishing my MSc in Robotics at Heriot-Watt.

What I like most is the boundary where code meets physics: a URDF that becomes real joints, a controller that has to survive contact with the actual world, a sonar model that decides where an underwater robot dares to go next. I've shipped software for humanoids, marine ROVs, 3D-printed arms and hackathon robots. I'm usually the one translating between the hardware and software people.

Off duty I play piano, ski the mountains I grew up in, and climb new ones.
